Rostrum
The slender beak beneath the genu.
The rostrum is the thin tapering tail that curves back under the genu, connecting the orbital surfaces of the frontal lobes.
What it does
- Linking orbitofrontal cortex on both sides
- Contributing to social and emotional judgment
- Completing the callosal arch
In the real world
Developmental imaging
Because the rostrum forms last in the womb, radiologists use its presence or absence to date early brain development in prenatal MRI.
